15th Dec 2016 – Who would have thought Christmas would be upon us so quickly.
2016 has been a rollercoaster year. Social, economic, political and environmental upheaval, locally and globally. Change is our best friend and our worst enemy – we get to choose which. The good news is that changes like this often catalyse good, and we definitely have a sense of that this year..
Sustainability in all its forms is finally gaining wider traction, as it has to. More people are reconnecting with each other, with the planet and its limited and fragile resources and climate, and our impact on everyone and everything else. Shared threats to our social, economic and environmental fabric are giving rise to a shared vision to overcome these enormous intertwined challenges.. The buds of a renewed sense of community.
In Impact Seed’s growing corner of change making – ‘business for good’ – we’re thrilled with the engagement and excitement we’ve had across the WA startup, business and social spectrum since we started this journey earlier in the year. We’ve worked with over 30 founders on their development journeys, opened the door to numerous partnerships, had our inaugural pitch event in partnership with our friends at UWA Centre for Social Impact, and partnered with StartSomeGood to launch WA’s own crowdsourced seed-funding platform for Social Businesses.
To top off an exciting first year, we are thrilled to announce that the awesome Joni Sercombe has joined our founding team to help us develop Impact Seed’s capacity to drive investment and support for Social Businesses in WA! Welcome Joni, it’s going to be a great 2017!
Christmas is a great time to reflect on and be grateful for the most important things in life, and as year one of our own community-building and development journey draws to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful people we have had the privilege to meet, partner and work with in 2016. From the team at Impact Seed, we wish you, your families, friends and community a resftul, reflective and happy holiday.
